2016 US elections

Editor's note: Following the primaries in Kentucky and Oregon, Bernie Sanders picked up 55 delegates to Hillary Clinton's 51. Ten delegates remain to be allocated, pending final vote tallies but this means Clinton has 1,767 delegates while Sanders has 1,488. To close that gap, Sanders would need to win 68 percent of the remaining primary and caucus delegates because, when including superdelegates, Clinton has 2,291 to Sanders' 1,528 -- leaving her just 92 delegates short of the nomination. Meanwhile, Donald Trump picked up a further 17 delegates after his victory in Oregon, leaving him within 77 delegates of officially clinching the nomination. - Luke

Editor's note: With nearly all votes counted in Kentucky, there is less than one-half of 1 percent separating Democratic candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, AP reports. Clinton's campaign has claimed victory, and Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes says it appears Clinton is the 'unofficial' winner. We're also watching for results in the Oregon primary, where Sanders is favored to win. - Stephanie
