John Bryson stepped down as the US's commerce secretary on June 21, 2012, approximately 2 weeks after allegedly causing 2 traffic collisions that left him injured and unconscious. Bryson said he suffered a seizure prior to the collisions, and went on medical leave before submitting his resignation.

One of the crashes was under investigation as a felony hit and run, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department and the San Gabriel Police Department said.
